Project ‘One Day’ is divided into three parts.

The beginning of this project ‘One Day’ is a photograph. The picture was taken by an analog camera with a film which can take 36 pictures. If you divide 24 hours into 36 times, you would get about 41 minutes. So this picture was taken once every 41 minutes except bedtime. What these pictures contain is not a theme, it was either not directed, but just a landscape in front of the artist. I set a 41 minute timer, and every time the timer rings, I took the scene in front of my eyes without intention, just like an assignment. That's why these pictures are not so much a proxy for the artist's taste or the subject matter the artist is trying to capture, but rather just a record of the day. These 36 photographs were presented in the exhibition space with the date and time of the shoot.

The second stage is a novel that was created based on photographs. I came up with a novel, regardless of what actually happened at that time, looking at printed pictures as a reference of the day. Looking at the pictures presented, I made a story of what happened during the 41 minutes between those pictures. Because this is a story created by the artist, rather than being a record, this novel is written in a narrative full of the artist's point of view. The novel describes the relationship and situation between people through conflicts surrounding the ‘Art’. And ultimately, this novel indirectly asks you a somehow abstract question of what art is.

Lastly, it is a film taken based on the previous photographs and the novel. Unlike the two media (photographs, and the novel) that showed the stark contrast of nonfiction-fiction earlier, the film confused whether all the stories so far are nonfiction or fiction.

This project was shown at Project Space SARUBIA, Seoul.
